Creating blog posts for each episode. Is it worth it for SEO?

Hi all, I would love to turn my podcast episodes topics into blog posts since there are not many people talking about the topics I cover and I know it can be useful to a lot of people. I am just a bit stuck because I have an intern who can do this but I don't know if for SEO I should just do show notes instead of a script. I wonder if I should glean the main ideas from each episode and turn it into a more well-written blog post even if this takes more time. I host a mental health podcast for womxn of color who are daughters of immigrants so the topics I cover are very niche-specific and I use storytelling as well as technical knowledge so that is why a few episodes such as "How to find a therapist who is a good fit" were easy to turn into blog posts because it was technical and had a list of tips, others with personal stories etc might be trickier. I do want to keep the storytelling component sometimes in my blog though. Any ideas? I am so new to all of this but would love some feedback here. Thanks in advance!

I used to do a blog post on Tue with corresponding podcast episode on Wed. I got sick of it and was not having fun anymore. I ditched the blog and focusing on my podcast now. Before you decide to add a blog, look at all the info out there to grow your podcast and see if you are doing it. You are thinking if you do a blog, you will reach more people but that is not necessarily true. There is lots of stuff to consider.

I want more people to listen to the podcast but I also just want the content to reach people and I do kinda like writing. I am very new to blogging though so I am curious if you also need to post at the same day/time each week? I was just going to upload blog posts slowly when I had time haha

Use show notes on your episode page. They should be carefully written for Google using important keywords that may be search on. Transcripts should be on a separate page. Those can be rather rough, choppy, and confusing to Google indexing.

The podcast sounds interesting and I can relate to the audience. Do you use a transcription for your podcast? You can add in some SEO words while keeping in line with the feel of a story. If your stories relate to another episode, maybe link to that episode and try to pull in some SEO words from that blog.

The best thing for SEO is what will be the highest quality and most readable.

Good point. So I think maybe either do super clear show notes for SEO for the podcast and then also summarize a blog post from a podcast episode so it's clear and pull out the mental health tips and add keywords etc.

I would take the episodes and write out a blog post. Do one and see how it goes. Keep in mind that audiences are different for podcasts, blogs, etc, so you will likely encounter new people wanting your blog. Also, the blog posts would be a great start to turning them into a book (another new audience)!

Whichever you do, do them all on the same domain. Don't put the blogs on a blogging website, and the episode notes on your podcast website. You want to drive all your traffic to one place, so people can find your other content easily. Someone who find your blog on google would quickly see your podcast audio and listen, etc.

Do both. Not all readers like to listen to podcasts & not all listeners will want to read a script. Consider this a way to expand your audience. You can still do abbreviated show notes but add a separate blog post for SEO.

Thanks! I am thinking I could just add show notes under the drop down menu of the podcast section of my site and then just continue to upload blogs to the blog section of the site. I'm trying to keep SEO in mind with some of the podcast episode topics so maybe the scripts will have some keywords as well.
