If you want your podcast to grow, then you need to have a Facebook group for your podcast community

We all probably have read somewhere that having a Facebook group is the key to growing your podcast yet no none of them explain how to build it for success, tell you what to do with that group, how to grow that group or even how to monetize it.

What I want to do with this post, is share with you the way to build your Facebook group so that it will help you grow your podcast to a point where you can monetize your show.

To start, your Facebook group should be looked at as an extra place that your Ideal Audience Members can come together to talk about the topics of your podcast and not promote your podcast.

It is the secret clubhouse for your listeners. They already listen to your podcast so give them extra content inside the group.

If you’re a comic book focused podcast, then have a thread about the latest issue of a comic and get people’s take on it, so you can use that on your show.

Inside that group is where you will create your super fans, who will go out and do more marketing for you because word of mouth marketing is the most powerful form.

Also when you people join your Facebook group you can poll them about upcoming topics for your show, you can see what they are interested in purchasing and find affiliate offers to show them.

Think about your audience and what they need and find a way to supply it to them inside the group.

Hope this helps if you have any questions please leave them in the comments and I’ll do my best to help answer them.

I would also create relationships with like minded admins and Facebook group moderators. My podcast is West Point based (small niche) but the Alumni and Family groups are always looking for content to share. They allow me to post my episode links on their page so it helps them create content for discussion. Spamming doesn’t work, but targeted cross promotion is almost as good as being a guest on another podcast.

I’ve gotten the most followers from this strategy, not the most listens, but the most followers.

Followers help generate listeners as it provides social proof that brings authority to your position within your niche.

I have a question, what about the audience who doesn’t use fb? Like the gen Z Tik tokers? Where can a community be built ?

You can build a subreddit on Reddit, you can create a forum on a website, or create a MightyNetwork. The object is create a space for them to come together.

But you have to get people to actually find and join your group

That’s why you use a single CTA telling listeners to join your group by going to the link in the show notes. It will take time but so with everything.

You also use paid ads to grow your group. I read a book about it and in 2023 I will be running paid ads to my private Facebook group. If you like I could share the link to it. It’s only $5.
