What are some good ways to promote my podcast?

My co-host and I are 13 episodes in and have just over 400 downloads. Neither of us have a large social media following (less than 400 each) and we’ve tried to grow our podcast social media but people don’t seem to want to engage.

I’ve thought about have guests on to cross promote but it’s hard for us to schedule guests, our recording options are limited to babysitting availability.

What are some good ways to promote? It’s a lot of mom, wife, mental health content and a lot of Facebook groups I’m in don’t permit self promotion so I’m finding it hard to grow our audience.

I have to say, growing a podcast audience is easy IF you have the right message, the right marketing, and the sound. Just launched my 2nd show with episodes and close 1000 downloads with lots of feedback. My other show has 17 episodes and almost 10K downloads. The biggest differentiator is do you have something they want? Do you have a way for listeners to go deeper with you after the show. Answer 3 questions: 1. What are you willing to do more of than anyone else? 2. What are you willing to do differently? 3. How will you connect? This framework allowed me to amass a large following and sell my radio show last year for 5 figures after 476 episodes.

Too early to worry about this. Focus on your content Also you can low key promote on Facebook. Share interesting photos and watermark them with your podcast url Use canva to create them. Make sure they are things the group will like on their own and they won’t be seen as promotion

I have the most response from Instagram; it’s where I have found my audience hangs out on the Internet. It’s not just podcast promotion, I post family things, too. My posts automatically post to Facebook. I sometimes post on Twitter. Interacting with your audience is important. I comment on other posts and respond when people comment on my posts. I have a website, too, which needs work. I hand out business cards freely. Hope this helps.

Ask the admins of various groups you're in if you can post links to podcast episodes that you feel members may find interesting. If you aren't selling product, sometimes it's different. If they know you are posting about group-specific information, they may soften up. I have done that with a few groups who had knee-jerk reactions that I was selling something or trying to profit from the group. Or, post about the episode, but put the link in the post comments so the post itself doesn't contain the link. Or if you have acquaintances in various groups, see if they will post single episodes here as if it is their idea "Hey, I found this podcast, this episode was really helpful, I thought this group may appreciate it". Also, it takes a while to get going. Don't expect people from your own social media (friends/family) to listen or support. Some will, many won't. Seems to be a weird podcaster phenomenon for many. Look into a website with Podpage and get the upgraded site, your podcast will be google searchable that way so people who want to find you can find you easier.

Endure long enough to stand out. God podcast if they're lost in the mix have to endure long enough. You can spend a bit of cash to do ads or buy downloads or all sorts but in the end if you keep going you'll find your community. I remember when I hit 500 downloads and was like wow 500 times people have decided to actively listen to me talk.its a great feeling. Find your reason why you podcast and make that your core. If it's downloads then pay attention to the numbers if it's not pay attention to your core and enjoy the small victories as they come. Thays my $0.02 hope t helps encourage. I know it's not really the marketing advice you're looking for thoughm

It is an extremely hard thing to do with out a following to start. You really do have to build a market first and then create your podcast

Keep going! Figure out creative ways to talk about your pod without self promoting - while remaining authentic. You want the content for when your pod does grow - listeners have content to go back and listen. “Mommy groups” have the highest engagement by far, I think you’re just competing with a lot of other similar pods

I'd also find a few Facebook groups that do allow promotions. Many groups have a weekly thread where you can do so. Also podcasting is a long game. We were a full year in before we got real traction.

Congratulations on your podcast! You are just starting down this awesome journey. Just have fun, stay consistent, and the listeners will come. It doesn't hurt to ask your current listeners for an Apple/ITunes review.

What steps have you taken for social media awareness? You don’t have to have a large following but you do need to understand where to put it. Knowing nothing about your show: if you record your initial calls or interviews with zoom, you should have a YouTube version of the show. You then take clips of that show 1-3min and post them as YouTube shorts, Instagram reels, and TikToks. For an hour show you should be able to get 5-10 clips for the other platforms. That’s 5-10 days of constant posting from that one interview. You can then add your own “notes” and comments and addition “let’s unpack that” content that drives the algorithm
